Fallout musical selected for 2023 NAMT

The new American musical Fallout, a family saga about Ukrainian immigrants escaping anti-Semitism after the Chernobyl disaster to settle in Brighton Beach, NY, has been selected to participate in the 35th annual National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) festival on October 26 & 27 of 2023.

Inspired by the life of the show’s composer-lyricist, tech-startup/singer-songwriter Dmitry Koltunov, with book by David Goldsmith, Fallout was chosen to be one of eight shows to present at the prestigious NAMT festival, out of 575 total submissions to this season’s annual event.

In development since starting life as Fireflies in the early 2010s, Fallout has undergone significant changes in characters, songs and story over the years. Its final workshop before submission to NAMT took place in November of 2022, and was preceded by a concert version of the musical at the Marlene Mayerson JCC on the Upper West Side of New York, with theatre luminaries such as Ephraim Sykes, Vicki Lewis, Samantha Massell, Jeremy Kushnier, Eddie Korbich, Christina Sajous and Bryonha Marie (also the wife of bookwriter Goldsmith).

The event will take place at New World Stages in Midtown. Limited numbers of tickets will be available to the general public.
